Located just outside the village centre, Les Fermes de Marie consists of a small hamlet of 8 chalets built to recreate the atmosphere of an authentic Savoyard village. This gem of a hotel has various room types - most Club bedrooms (the standard category) have a balcony, and all have wood-panelled walls, crisp sateen striped sheets, and subdued plaid upholstery. Pricier bedrooms-similarly decorated, but with fancier quilts-include lounges, while other larger accommodations that sleep three to four people make this place popular with families Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. The hotel has 4 great restaurants, including a traditional dining room, a rotisserie, its own high altitude mountain restaurant called L' Alpage du Pre Rosset reserved exclusively for hotel guests, and finally a restaurant devoted entirely to cheese. Guests can also have dinner at Le Lodge Park, the sister hotel.
Megeve is the essence of rustic chic and was the original purpose built French resort, conceived in the 1920's as France's alternative to Switzerland's St Moritz. Although Courchevel took over as France's swankiest resort a while ago, there are still many 'beautiful people' who visit the resort and stay in the many smart, luxury hotels.
