Luxury Chalet Maison (Sleeps 8)

Luxury Chalet Maison in Alpe d'Huez is part of a new modern development of luxury accommodation that is set right at the top of the resort in a fabulous location. The main lifts are pretty much on the doorstep and it's possible to ski right back to the chalet door at the end of the day - ski convenience has taken on a whole new meaning here. It is perfect for families looking for easy access to the nursery slopes (which by the way are excellent) and ski school meeting points.

Chalet Maison is the smallest of the luxury newly built chalets (built 2009) in Le Village and is found at the apex of the two pistes running alongside the development. This chalet commands completely uninterrupted views over the snow towards Les Bergers from most of its windows. At ground floor level there is an luxurious indoor hot-tub, sauna and twin bedroom with en-suite facilities and access to the outside. The main entrance can be found on the first floor along with another en-suite twin and a beautiful, light living space of kitchen opening to dining area, to living area. On the second floor there are one twin bedroom and one double bedroom, both en-suite. This chalet offers a lot of privacy and has truly spectacular views.

If you can get over the fact that Alpe d'Huez is neither particularly stylish, nor very attractive to look at then it really is a great ski resort. The ski area is surprisingly varied and large, and there is plenty of terrain for all standards of skiers. The nursery slopes have to be amongst the best in the Alps and the off-piste terrain will give much more prestigious resorts a real run for their money. Factor in the lack of ski bums here (compared to more prestigious resorts) who normally ski out fresh powder in a matter of hours and you have a ski area which, on a powder week, will keep on giving great lines day after day.

If you would like to check availability and prices for a larger selection of more modestly priced chalets in Alpe d’Huez please see our sister website, Alpine Answers. We have over 30 chalets listed in this great resort with maps, reviews, images and more information.

We say... Alpe d'Huez might not be as fashionable as Val d'Isere or Verbier, nevertheless, if you are after a big ski area that is snowsure and want a smart chalet on the slopes a short schuss away from the ski school then you have found the perfect chalet.

The tour operator in general - really good, airport collection & in resort all managed by Ben & Nat so great to have familiar faces & they were really lovely. In hindsight we should have booked ski hire with them too (for the kids) as they just took care of everything. The Chalet Maison - fantastic, best one of the group in that area as it's facing piste with great views. And great bedrooms and bathrooms, living area nice & hot tub room was superb & used daily. It was modern and clean and had all the facilities. It was a bit hot inside but luckily we could leave windows open etc! The food - great breakfast & dinners so really happy with it. Good balance of nice food & heathy & good desserts! Nice menu mix and Andy our host did really well with presentation etc. You could add more French theme into the menu but it really was lovely food and good quality. The Service of the staff - Andy our chalet host was really kind and looked after us very well. We were really pleased to have him. The flights - great on way out, bit busy on way back at Grenoble Airport but with a baby we got fast tracked so was ok. Used to flying with jet2 so all good. Understand the Londoners had good flights too wth BA. The transfers - the Manchester ones probably better as they had a little mini bus so a bit faster than the London coach. We had spare seats so could use seat belts on our car seat. The resort itself - fantastic and the chalet was in a great location, ski in ski out, but also good for shops and restaurants, and good to be far enough from Les Bergers where there was a big stage and music festival going on which was loud - whereas in the area we were it was quiet and good. Close to piste but we didn't hear the piste bashers. The holiday was AMAZING!! We had such a good time and it was by far the nicest chalet we've ever stayed in as a family.
