Baita 1697 is a wonderful 17th Century Piedmontese farmhouse in the tiny hamlet of Pattemouche near the well known ski resort of Sestriere and only just over an hour from Turin. Having being lovingly restored by the owner who also happens to be a renowned interior designer the farmhouse is now a stunning alpine property.
The luxury Chalet Baita 1697 can sleep up to 12 adults and 6 children in wonderful bedrooms which include custom made Egyptian cotton bed sheets and bathrooms with under-floor heating, top of the range fittings and salon standard hair dryers. The living room is spacious with lots of comfortable sofas and a wood burning open fire, there is also a media room with a large flat screen TV to watch films or listen to some music. Another great feature is the roof terrace with an 8 person wooden hot tub with some amazing mountain views.
The hamlet of Pattemouche is only a 3 minute stroll to the cable car that gives you easy access to the Milky Way ski area offering 400km of pistes and at the end of the day you can ski back to the farmhouse. The local area chairlift is also nearby as well as access to some amazing cross-country skiing.

The chalet staff were fantastic. It was just a housekeeper/cook and her husband. They were wonderful hosts and she is a fabulous cook. She was very proud to have cooked for Jamie Oliver when he stayed there! We booked Chalet Baita as we seemed to get so much more for our money than the alternatives in France. None of our group had skied in Italy before and we were a bit nervous about what the skiing would be like, but it was amazing and we needn't have worried. The chalet itself is fabulous. I've never stayed in a chalet like that before! It is absolutely huge and very beautiful. Bianca and Pietro the housekeepers / cooks / drivers are fabulous. All in all it was a wonderful week. Thank you for suggesting it. We thought the ski area was outstanding - a huge skiing area, with lovely wide pistes. Great for kids. David Cape (the sales person at Alpine Answers) was also outstanding. He offered a chalet which gave much better value for money than the alternatives provided by other agents.
